RULES FOR CONTRIBUTIONS OF ARTICLES
1.

Contributions should be sent to the Honorary Editor, Indian Forester, P.O. New Forest, Dehradun - 248006 (Uttarakhand)

2.

The Central Editorial Board does not hold itself responsible for the opinions expressed by the authors.

3.

The Central Editorial Board Reserves the right of accepting or rejecting any contribution and of making suitable alterations and amendments, without assigning any reason.

4.

Contributors will be supplied 8 extra copies of their contribution, free of charge.

   

GUIDELINES TO AUTHORS

Title

This should be in block capitals, brief and specific conveying the main subject of the contents of the paper. The title should be followed by the Authors names (in block capitals) and the name of department and place.

 
Introduction

An introduction should introduce the main theme of the paper and elaborate the objective of the work.

 
Summary A brief summary (Preferably not exceeding 200 words) should be given.
 
Keywords

Three or four keywords, relevant to the contents of the paper, should be given following the "Summary" Part.

 
Presentation The contribution should be submitted in the following format :
 (1) Title,
 (2) Introduction
 (3) Material and Methods
(4) Results and Discussion
(5) Summary
(6) Key words and

(7)

References. The matter should be typed in double space on one side only of A4 size paper with a margin of 2.5 cm. Contributions should be sent in duplicate (Hard copies).

 

Electronic version

For the initial submission of manuscripts for consideration, hardcopies are sufficient. For the processing of accepted papers, electronic versions are required. After final acceptance, the soft copy of the final paper (C.D), exactly matching the printed versions, should be submitted. Label the disk with the Article No., Title and Authors’ name . Please make all illustrations only in black & white. Please note that the figures given must not contain any background/screen. In case of scanned half-tones (photographs) inserted in text, invariably send the original photo prints also.

 

Illustrations
/Photographs

The number of illustrations should be kept minimum as their reproduction is costly. Photographs and drawings should, if possible, be made to the correct proportion of the printing page of the journal. Nothing should be written in pencil or ink or typewritten on the back of the illustration. Photographs and illustrations should not be pinned or sewn with thread. The Photographs should be in black and white, with pronounced contrasts and glossy finish. Captions should be typed or written on separate strips of paper and attached with colorless adhesives to the back of the prints. The approximate place where the illustrations are to be inserted should be indicated in the text, and the illustrations should be serially numbered. When mailing, illustrations should be placed between cardboards held together by thin thread or clips.

 

References

The References should be given at the end of the article on separate sheet of paper. Reference to a citation in the text should be made by means of the author's name followed by the year of publication in parenthesis. The references, in the list should be arranged alphabetically in chronological order. References should be written uniformly as the author's name and initials (abbreviated), the year of publication (in parenthesis) , the title of the article, the title of the book paper or periodical (in italics) volume number (in bold) and the page numbers, thus:
Hamilton, A.P.F. (1947). Farm Forestry in India, Indian Forester, 74 (3):84-88. Robertson, P.A., G.T. Weaver and J.A. Cavanaugh (1978). Vegetation and tree species patterns near the northern terminus of the southern flood plain forests. Ecol. Monogr., 48 : 249-267.

 

 Tables

 Tables should be reduced to the simplest form and present only essential data. They should be submitted on separate sheets at the end of the article and must fit into single column, full width or, if absolutely necessary, landscape format. The use of vertical rules should be avoided. Numerical results should be calculated with suitable statistical package indicating significant differences, quoting probability levels

 

 Note:

Authors are requested to kindly follow the above guidelines strictly while submitting the papers for publication in Indian Forester.
